This summer, don’t forget the SPF! May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and skin cancer prevention begins with sun safe habits during childhood. Because skin cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, it is important to establish protective skin care habits, especially in the summer months, with children. Sun-safe habits include regularly applying sunscreen, limiting exposure during peak UV rays and wearing sun-protective clothing. By instilling these lifelong habits early on, caregivers can help reduce their child’s risk of developing skin cancer.

At Sadler Health, we believe that anyone who needs health care should have access to health care. That is why we are proud to take our “Health Center on Wheels” to Shippensburg and Newport weekly, bringing accessible and convenient medical care to patients who may not be able to come to us. Patients can receive services including annual physical exams, care for illnesses, follow-up care, immunizations including flu and COVID-19 vaccines and COVID-19 tests from our mobile health care unit. Welcome to Melissa Salter, CRNP, MSN Melissa began her health care career in the Emergency Department at Harrisburg Hospital before pursuing her master’s degree in nursing at Millersville University. She specializes in educating and providing medical care to individuals with special needs. Melissa is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and enjoys learning the latest medical advancements for the treatment of chronic illnesses as well as a holistic approach to wellness. “I am excited to join the Sadler Health Center team and look forward to providing excellent care to our community,” Melissa said. Thanks to everyone who joined us for our “For the Health of a Child” benefit last weekend! Held at the beautiful The Willows at Ashcombe Mansion in Mechanicsburg, the event raised funds to support medical and dental services provided to children at Sadler Health Center and celebrated Sadler’s history of providing health care to children and all members of the community for over 100 years. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised over $40,000 to help us make affordable, accessible health care available for more children in our community.
