East Pennsboro Area School District (EPASD) is a progressive school district with a total population of 2,560 students in kindergarten through grade twelve. Located in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and bordering the Susquehanna River, the twelve-square-mile school district serves East Pennsboro Township and the community of Enola and parts of Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg. East Pennsboro is a suburb of the state capital, Harrisburg, and serves a socioeconomically diverse community of nearly 21,000 citizens.
EPASD operates four schools. Children in grades K-5 attend East Pennsboro Elementary, which serves the northern part of the district, and West Creek Hills, which serves the southern part of the district. Both elementary schools have an educational philosophy that is child-centered and offers a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) using a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum delivered through research-based learning strategies that prepare them for success in middle school and beyond. The curriculum is infused with character education, wellness, and mindfulness practices that improve the culture and climate of our schools and the education experience and lives of our students.
Approximately 575 students in grades 6-8 attend East Pennsboro Area Middle School, which features a team-teaching approach focused on the unique needs of adolescents. The curriculum builds on the elementary school experience and features a strong emphasis on reading, literacy, STEM, the arts, foreign language, and interdisciplinary connections. With approximately 791 students in grades 9-12, East Pennsboro Area High School offers the advantages of a large school while creating an atmosphere where all students receive the attention and assistance they need to succeed. Students continue to focus on literacy, numeracy, STEM, and character education with opportunities for specialized learning in career-aligned educational tracks, including Arts and Communications, Business and Computer Science, Engineering and Industrial Technology, Human Services, and Science and Health Services. Our prominent NJROTC Program instills in students the values of citizenship, service, personal responsibility, and accomplishment. The graduation rate for East Pennsboro seniors is 96% with 68% of our students going on to post-secondary education and 1% of our students going into the armed forces.
