Date: Tuesday, July 27 Time: 1:30-3:00 p.m. Rates: $62 PANO Members; $89 Nonmembers Program Details This presentation addresses the art and science of drafting bylaws. Well-written and formulated bylaws help shape power relationships within a nonprofit organization; provide unambiguous procedures to prevent disputes; and reduce the risks of litigation. Bylaws should provide answers, not raise questions. Come with questions and candidness, and leave with clarity and confidence to draft or edit a workable document. What you will learn: • Gain clarity on procedural issues • Learn how to avoid, avoid, avoid o goal-oriented expressions o inconsistent language o passive tense and ambiguities • Determine whether your bylaws appropriately answer "whose organization is this" • Understand how to produce an effective document • Receive "Annotated" Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws • Take home sample forms that work Who Should Attend: Executive Directors, Board Members, Consultants, Attorneys and others interested in reviewing and assessing an organization's bylaws. Participants will learn about the educational resources and optional certification components of the Standards for Excellence Program.
